Lasted Lined Stitchdown Hiking Boots | November 2020
November 17 @ 9:00 am - November 22 @ 5:00 pm$900 – $1620
This is a brand new 6 day class in which you’ll make a pair of “lasted lined stitchdown” hiking boots!
I’ve been teaching non lasted shoe constructions for many years now and this will be my first proper lasted construction group class ever!
i’ve run this several times in a private one on one setting and am ready to add it to my regular schedule of classes.. this is my take on the time honored stitchdown hiking boot. You’ll design and build a pair of my hikers from pattern all the way thru final touches on the run of lasts i designed myself. We’ll begin with measuring the foot and last selection then move onto amending and adjusting the lasts. We’ll pattern your boots, discuss and select leathers, skive, glue and stitch uppers before lasting and stitching onto the midsloe. I am sooo excited to be sharing new constructions and new styles with y’all… these are the reasons i’m excited to get up every morning and turn the lights on and get to work!!
COVID safety precautions: I’ve moved the class space to the garage and limited class sizes to accommodate smaller groups. On warm days well keep the rollup garage door open with fans moving air out of the building. I’m also currently installing a ventilation system that will move air up and out of the shop as well as pull glue fumes creating a healthier class environment. Please bring and be prepared to wear a mask… even if you aren’t concerned for your own safety each class is a shared space and we need to look out for one another now more than ever. Hand sanitizer and wipes will be provided and each student will have an individual box of tools that only you use. For tools like sewing machines and grinders that student share we will do our very best to keep them clean and wiped down between uses. Please check in with me about your concerns and or please feel free to share with me and the group about your COVID experience… IE whether you’ve been tested negative or positive and or for antibodies. Openness and transparency together with first hand experience and knowledge might help us all be a little more secure about what we’re signing up for!
Also… i have been twice tested (june/july) and the results were negative. I and others within my immediate germ circle were very sick in late february and into march… one of those people tested positive for covid antibodies in late june. i’m still working toward getting tested for antibodies as i believe we all had it back in feb/march. Just saying all that out loud in an effort to be fully transparent.
