in this class we begin by making a casting of your foot (they will truly be custom built) then move on to patterning and leather selection, cutting and skiving, stitching and assembly. we will be using industrial walking foot sewing machines in this class to assemble the uppers, some sewing machine experience is helpful but not required. once the upper and sole are attached we move onto closure, finishing and finally attaching and trimming the soles.

we cover a wide assortment of leather working techniques and tools in these classes but at the heart of what i’m really sharing are a few simple methods of attaching upper to sole. the design or style of the upper is kind of secondary here, once you understand how to attach upper to sole on this pair you are free to let imagination run wild on your next!

i usually wear mine while adventuring in field and forest or digging footings for fence posts, they’re my work boots. that being said, they are quite comfortable too! i recently made a pair of wooden skis (check out the “wooden skis” photo album in my handcraft category) and these worked great as ski boots as well.

this pair of shoes could easily last you for the rest of your life if well taken care of!

space is limited to 5-6 students per class and they fill quickly.

***REFUND POLICY*** i’ve recently updated my refund policy and will no longer issue refunds of deposits or full payments… this is a very small family business run from my home based workshop and i generally start purchasing materials for each class as sign ups come in. when you sign up for one of my classes please be ready and committed to show up, work hard and have a great time with your fellow students. i love the work i do and am fully committed to providing a fun, informative and challenging class! I do of course know that things come up that are beyond our control and am happy to transfer any payment you make to me to a future class. Thank you for understanding…
